Mike Lynch Minnesota Starwatch Party

Catch the amazing celestial show in the skies over Minnetonka.  After a brief indoor orientation we' will head outside to get close and personal with our universe.  Get to know the constellations like The Big Bear, Cassiopeia the Queen, Cygnus the Swan, Pegasus the Winged Horse and many of the great stories about how they wound up among the stars.  We will use large reflecting telescopes, including a giant 20" reflector - one of the biggest mobile telescopes in the upper Midwest -  for close up views of the planet Jupiter, star clusters, galaxies, and other wonders of the sky.  We will also be able to use a brand new state-of-the-art astronomical camera-telescope system that will amaze you!  Every family will receive a handout package with user-friendly star maps and constellation charts, websites, a telescope-buying guide and more!

Mike Lynch is a meteorologist at WCCO Radio and has been teaching astronomy classes for over 39 years. He writes a weekly stargazing column for the "St. Paul Pioneer Press" and other newspapers across the U.S. and has authored the book, “Mike Lynch's Minnesota Starwatch.”  His book will be available for purchase during class at a discounted price. Please bring lawn chairs and get comfy.  Your Universe is waiting!
