Lifeguard Training - Ages 15 and Up
The American Red Cross Lifeguarding Today course is a comprehensive program that prepares participants for the rigors of lifeguarding. The purpose of the course is to teach lifeguard candidates the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies in a pool environment.
Students will learn how to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and to prevent injuries and drowning. The program includes aquatic-specific First Aid & CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
Students should bring a swimming suit, pencil and paper to every class.
Classes run from 5:30 - 9:30pm on Thursday, 5:30 - 9:30pm on Friday, 9am - 8 pm on Saturday, and 9am - 6pm on Sunday.
Prerequisite: Students must be 15 years of age on or before the last day of class; swim 500 yards continuously using the breast stroke and frontcrawl; swim 20 yards retrieve a 10 pound diving brick from 10 feet of water and swim 20 yards with both hands on the brick.
